Adware scams

Adware is a form of virus but not considered a virus thus most anti virus programs will not pick them up.

Adware can be obtained by merely browsing a website. If you are getting a lot of pop ups that you never got before, it’s because you probably have adware on your computer. Adware can over whelm your computer causing it to freeze up, shut down or crash! Some ad wares report back information on your computer as far as where you’ve been on the internet and how often. It’s feasible if they can do that then nothing on your computer is safe! They even have key loggers that record every key stroke you make. (Very handy in finding out your user names and passwords for any account you visit)

I think it is imperative to keep your info and browsing habits safe. I use two different free programs. One is called Spybot search & destroy and the other is Microsoft’s anti spyware. They are both free and update themselves often for free. You’ll be amazed at what these programs find on your computer as far as adware! Use them both for extra protection because sometimes one catches adware the other one doesn’t and vise versa. There are a lot of adware programs you can buy; In fact you probably received e-mails trying to sell them to you. Not long ago CNET did a comparison of all those bought programs and the free ones I mentioned. The results showed that spybot and the Microsoft anti-spyware where in the top ten of the list and beat out most every bought software. So don’t get scammed on buying something that’s available for free!
